Being married to someone who suffers with any type of mental health issues is tough. At times it can take a toll on a marriage, it can create rougher patches… I’ve made a simple list of some helpful tips.
Simply be there. Even if you don’t understand what is going on exactly, be there. Let your loved one know you are there if and when they need you.
Be patient. It is hard. Easier said then done, I know. We can’t always control what is going on. We are sorry and we are trying.
Somedays we may need space while other we may need the biggest bear hug you can give.
Somedays we need to be in a blanket fort while others we need fresh air. “Let’s go on for a walk.”
My best advice is talk to us. Ask what you can help with. We may jot know but together, we might be able to figure it out.
We may drain you emotionally, we may annoy you… but I promise you stick with us through the bad… and the good will always outweigh it.
